Unlike her previous pieces—chair-sized pompoms and the fantastical wool cushion/carpet—Denmark-based Pernelle Fagerlund’s Textile Stones operate on a more intimate scale, but remain as innovative and playful in form and technique. Presented by Danish Crafts CC10 jubilee collection at this year’s ICFF, each of the homemade, eye-catching, and varying shaped work suggests egg-sacs of a cuddly prehistoric creature more than they do stones. Each large felted pod (think the football-sized egg served to Fred Flinstone for breakfast) is covered in smaller buds—soft golf balls—some hatched to reveal a cacophonous wooly yolk within the thin felt shell, while others remain whole, tempting in their latent potential.
