A flurry of press releases preceded this year’s NeoCon. And although the advanced warning spoiled some of the trade fair’s surprises (Italian tile maker Sicis is opening a Manhattan showroom! Herman Miller is making its sustainable Woodstalk fiberboard standard on its panel, frame and tile, and desk-based systems! Textile powerhouse Designtex will remove all PVC from its products by 2012!), there was still plenty to take in on our first day at the Mart.
Among our finds: a double-width, cantilevered desk from Virco’s Zuma line of educational furniture; Keilhauer’s Olo chair, which was inspired by a soap bubble; izzydesign’s eco-friendly Mallory chair; the Graph aluminum wall-cladding system by Fry Reglet; and the pebbly LonBead sheet flooring by Lonseal.
