Rem Koolhaas’s Office for Metropolitan Architecture recently used these shimmery skins for the façade of the Illinois Institute of Technology’s student center.
Although Panelite-a company made up almost exclusively of architects-can color-match at your whim, the naked panels are their most striking works. Transparent from the front and translucent at oblique angles, the brand new one-eighth- and one-quarter-inch grains resemble dew or a skein of silk.
