Silvercup Runneth Over
Close your eyes. Think beyond the current television and film writer strike. Not too far back, just two years will suffice.

This week, in 2005, Long Island City’s Silvercup Studios (home to shows including The Sopranos and Sex and the City) announced plans for the addition of a new $1 billion dollar complex. To be known as Silvercup West, the new space would tower high above Queens – and the Queensboro Bridge – creating a comparable Hollywood of the East Coast adorned with soundstages, commercial space, and 1,000 apartments.

The future site currently features a power generating station, a city salt pile, and the Terra Cotta building. Sitework is set to begin this year, with completion expected in 2012.

See the Silvercup Studios website.
