The Pocket Chair, designed by Mark Zuckerman and Monty Lawton of In House, is multifunctional furniture that does what it should: looks great and solves a problem. The chair is also the winner of the Chicago Athenaeum’s 2001 Good Design award.
The multicolored chairs were designed with cafes in mind. Made of polycarbonate, the chair’s splat folds back onto itself, forming a pocket for menus. Most newspapers can take respite in their, too. The chairs costs $245, the bar stool $295.
Pocket Chair’s mold was made by Donald Archibald, who is either famous or notorious, depending on who you talk to, for the original iMac. In House’s project was the last one Archibald completed before retirement.
