Third Annual Smart Environment Winners
Faced with tight budgets, all three winners still combined sustainable design and functional beauty.
This year’s IIDA/Metropolis Smart Environments Awards cover a range of scales, the proverbial S,M,L: a tiny organic restaurant in Washington, D.C.’s, historic Georgetown district; a lovely library in Scottsdale, Arizona; and a bright, daylit architecture office in-side a mixed-use development in Seattle. All of them, however, share an approach to sustainable design that merges beauty and intelligence with a genuine concern for the environment.
