Designer Margaux Keller on Her “Amor” Table Lamp for Roche Bobois
“The lamp is inspired directly from a lovers’ relationship,” says Keller. “Ceramic and glass are very different materials, very fragile but strong together at the same time.”
It’s said that opposites attract and that love is the delicate balance between polarities. French designer Margaux Keller captures this notion in her Amor table lamp for Roche Bobois, her second product with the manufacturer. The light is a combination of a cylindrical ceramic base and a handblown and sandblasted glass diffuser, materials that Keller says are disparate but embrace each other. “The lamp is inspired directly from a lovers’ relationship,” says Keller. “Ceramic and glass are very different materials, very fragile but strong together at the same time.” Amor is available in three colorways—anthracite, grayblue, and champagne—which she picked for their “elegance and contrast to the frosted glass” that diffuses its halogen light source. Amor is available in showrooms in the United States.
