Two New Collections Push the Envelope on Recycled Materials

Specular, Pure + FreeForm’s newest line of recyclable aluminum cladding, owes its reflective finishes to organic pigments and resins. Each 48-by-177-inch sheet can be customized for use indoors or out, enabling designers to control the reflection of light on elements ranging from soffits, walls, and ceilings to doors, canopies, and columns. The line’s 12 new panel styles are VOC-free, Red List–free, and Health Product Declaration–compliant. They also contain 20 percent postconsumer content and contribute to LEED credits.

Fittingly, the beginning of this year is marked by product launches centered on simple, recycled ingredients with low environmental impact. Among those for interior applications is Maharam Design Studio’s Wool Collection, which the company is rolling out in February. The new line of upholstery can be specified in ten textures ranging from felted to finely structured in almost 350 colors. The first styles available are Luce, a twill made of recycled postconsumer wool; Campana, which gets its tailored finish from pressed yarns; and Beck, a heathered plain weave.
