A former vice president of the National Association of Minority Architects student organization at Tuskegee, Jones displays an interest in cultural heritage and sustainability throughout his portfolio.

Lung’s portfolio shows a capacity for deep user research: City Paradigm, a community center concept developed with classmates Naomi Codo and Katie Trainor, is designed to reduce the stigma of food insecurity.

Rico-Gomez employs intense research and an acute sensitivity to vernacular and ecological systems to create original and innovative buildings.

Salazar develops excellent interior and exterior visuals, and creates dynamic, civic-minded proposals that have compelling resonance, even when pushing the envelope of the possible.

Stoltzfus combines a keen awareness of city, landscape, and sculptural form to create lively, relatable work. 

Eve Tobey | California College of the Arts

Tobey’s avant-garde approach focuses on forging unusual relationships through architecture. Her Bridge of Nymphs encloses San Francisco’s Bay Bridge in a cicada farm, joining humans and insects in a symbiotic relationship for sustenance.

Simiao (Aries) Wang | ArtCenter College of Design

NOMINATOR: Melodie Yashar, Professional Instructor

Wang identifies and leverages cutting-edge building systems for his projects, with an emphasis on sustainability. The After Earth project, which envisions how communities might survive as more of the earth turns to desert, is a good example of how he seeks to anticipate future needs.

Asiye Yukselen | Illinois Institute of Technology

NOMINATOR: Peter Landon, Adjunct Professor at IIT, Founder and Principal at Landon Bone Baker Architects

Two of Yukselen’s projects—a community center and a public library, both for Chicago’s South Side—demonstrate her skill at translating urban forces and community needs into building form.
