Live@ICFF: Interiors From Spain

The biggest foreign presence at this year’s ICFF came from Spain, with 20 companies exhibiting a range of colorful and well-crafted furniture, lighting, carpets, and wall-coverings. Here are a few of the highlights:

Actually, one of my favorite Spanish products wasn’t on display at the fair: Nanimarquina‘s new Digit rug, by the London-based graphic designer Cristian Zuzunaga, resembles an extremely enlarged color photograph. It comes in a 26-color version (shown) or with a more muted monochromatic palette.

Fortunately, Nanimarquina was showing pieces from another new collection–Spiral, by Martín Azúa and Gerard Moliné.

The furniture manufacturer Sancal was featuring these Rock tables, by Rafa García …

… as well as these delightful two-tone chairs from its Tea seating collection.

Two things Spanish designers aren’t afraid of–color and whimsy–were on display in Lladró‘s booth, with its new Parrot Party Collection.

Teixidors makes remarkably soft hand-crafted textiles, including several varieties of merino-and-silk blankets.

RS Barcelona recently started carrying the Eiffel stool, by the Japanese designer Shigeki Fujishiro. Made from recycled cardboard, the stool ships flat-packed and can be assembled in less than five minutes. According to RS, it can support up to 140 kilograms (or about 308 pounds).

Also at RS: a new Sake lamp to go with an existing collection of poufs and small tables.

Finally, no discussion of Spanish lighting at ICFF would be complete without a mention of LZF Lamps‘ spectacular butterfly display, made from a dozen of its Link pendants (for the wings) and a central Totem light. I can’t wait to see how they try to top this next year!
