To reign over resin, Martha Sturdy must be a princess of patience. Her large-scale pieces are on display once again this year-this time in a translucent royal blue, as opposed to last year’s feathery white.
No matter what the color, resin is a difficult material to work with, and cracks and other faults are almost inevitable. As a gentle reminder of the material’s frailty, Sturdy’s booth displays one jagged chunk of the stuff. Let that be a warning to those of us weighing the merits of resin. Pour at your own risk.
