Inside Outside USA
A monograph on the designer Petra Blaisse is newly available in the States.
.
Way back in 2007, we ran a brief review of Inside Outside: Petra Blaisse, a monograph on the Dutch interior and landscape designer from NAI Publishers. Last week, the book arrived in our mail room again, bundled with the usual new-title publicity materials. Huh? It turns out that the first edition sold out after a few months; only now is the book available for purchase once more–and this time it’s being co-published in the States by the Monacelli Press. Fortunately, the new version is, by all appearances, identical to its predecessor, preserving Irma Boom‘s florid and occasionally dizzying design. The U.S. edition won’t be released until October 20, but Blaisse (and Boom) admirers can pre-order a copy here.

Related: In a 2001 profile, Melissa Milgrom dubbed Blaise the “OMA Earth Mother.” A few years later, we took a look at her new projects in Brussels and Stuttgart. In 2007, Blaise answered a few questions on her work for our Text Message column. Last year, Irma Boom talked to us about the book-design process.
