Tonight, New York’s Center for Architecture hosts a discussion on the contemporary use of wood in architecture in the U.S. and Finland, with speakers including Juulia Kauste, director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture, and Aaron Forrest, AIA professor of architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design (register here).
The talk complements the center’s current exhibition, Annual Rings: A New Generation of Wood Architecture in Finland (cocurated by Kauste), which charts the development of Finnish wood architecture over the past two decades through 14 key projects ranging from pavilions and churches to the country’s first all-wood multi-story apartment building. Here are just some of the remarkable projects featured in the show.
