Return-to-office mandates and hybrid-work models have some companies rethinking their office spaces—and design-forward manufacturers are keeping pace. These latest office furnishings and components address the evolving needs of today’s workplace while prioritizing comfort, sustainability, and a welcoming aesthetic.

Mecanoo and Bert Plantagie

Mecanoo and Bert Plantagie have teamed up to introduce this playful modular sofa system. Evoking its namesake French confection, Macaron presents a rounded form made up of a base, seat, and backrest layer. Also available in a rounded-square, arc, half-pill, or wedge shape, the modules can be reconfigured for different settings and purposes. The system comes in both neutral and vibrant color choices.

Maharam

Maharam’s ongoing collaboration with Paul Smith reimagines the fashion designer’s previous upholstery collection for the brand, Overlapping Stripe, by scaling up the rhythmic prismatic pattern in seven refreshed airy palettes. The cotton-nylon and postconsumer-recycled polyester fabric has a PFAS-free water-repellent finish and acrylic backing. It can withstand up to 100,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek).

Silen’s second generation of work pods comprises three new models with slimmer silhouettes, lighter proportions, and more recycled materials without compromising on acoustic isolation. Clean lines and gentle contours meet in Keilhauer’s new Yabu Pushelberg–designed lounge collection, Etta. Certified carbon neutral and Greenhealth Approved, the comprehensive collection comprises 26 pieces—from modular sofas to nesting tables—to meet a variety of work styles. Pallas Textiles

Pallas Textiles’ latest development is NetZERO Bio, which is made using GRS transaction-certified polyester and bio-attributed polyurethane built on Susterra, an ingredient produced from regeneratively cultivated dent corn. Currently, it’s available for four of the company’s textiles: Chambray, Matka, Holy Cow, and Alea. All are bleach-cleanable and can withstand up to 500,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek).

Room & Board for Business is expanding its Urban Wood Project—a program that diverts urban wood from landfills and transforms it into kiln-dried timber suitable for furniture—with the addition of American elm. This dimensional contract textile by Designtex begs to be touched with its raised moss-evoking haptic pattern rendered in soft velvet. The upholstery fabric is offered in four colors—fittingly, Moss, but also Cloud, Poodle (black), and Teal—and composed of 100 percent postconsumer recycled polyester. Printed onto Autex’s Cube panels—which contain a minimum of 80 percent recycled PET—the designs are fully customizable, from colorway and dimensions to mounting options and corner treatments.

Wolf-Gordon

Industrial designer Hlynur Atlason has deftly translated the structural language of utilitarian masonry into this collection of 12-inch-square acoustic tiles for Wolf-Gordon. An addition to the manufacturer’s GATHER series, Mason by Atlason consists of eight grid masonry-mimicking patterns of different scales, from stacked skinny “bricks” to squares, rendered in 100 percent recycled felted polyester in 16 heathered or saturated hues.

Boss Design developed its Lucy chair to be easily reupholstered on-site. It employs a bungee cord system that secures the removable cover underneath the chair, while even tensioning around the form ensures a tailored fit, making its interchangeability undetectable. Along with a fully recyclable internal steel frame and eco-friendly foam cushioning, this new system will help keep the chair in use—and out of landfills—longer.

Designed in partnership with Formway, it features an eye-catching plastic shell—made with 73.45 percent recycled content—that’s been precision-molded in a pattern of cuts, depths, and spacing that enables it to flex with the sitter’s movements.
