Autodesk’s New and Improved BIM Software
Called BIM 360 Design, the product will launch this month and build on Autodesk’s previous efforts to facilitate collaboration in Revit.
Designers today work with colleagues and clients around the globe and need design tools that are built with collaboration in mind.
A new iteration of Autodesk’s Collaboration for Revit service—software that complements the company’s signature modeling and rendering program—seeks to make working together more effortless than ever. Called BIM 360 Design, the product will launch this month and build on Autodesk’s previous efforts to facilitate collaboration in Revit by enhancing data sharing and permission structures.
By making data and information shareable across the BIM 360 Design platform, multi-firm teams can work together simultaneously whether they’re a cubicle or a continent apart. Additionally, the system’s updated permission structure allows each team to have private virtual workspaces and share projects in progress. No longer will designers have to send files back and forth, since all collaborators will work in the same system.
Through a new Design Collaboration Module, teams can also keep an eye on data exchange, milestone achievements, and deliverables on a visual project timeline. Progress is also tracked in an automated visual representation of the design that helps all team members see what has been accomplished. With BIM 360, everything is accessible from a web browser, making working together convenient and intuitive.
