At first glance, the Balou Chair looks like it’s intended to sit in your living room, not out in the elements. Take a closer look, though, and you’ll see that its textural, airy design is not created from stained rattan like its companion ottoman, but rather from weather-resistant polyethylene and nylon cord.
Known for warming up modern design through the integration of natural materials, Kenneth Cobonpue USA is now taking its design philosophy to a new level. “We feel that the outdoor furniture market is underserved,” says Christopher Reiter, the company’s managing director. “We now offer six designs that can be converted to outdoor materials, and this is the first time we’re showing them.”
Designer Kenneth Cobonpue is clearly proud of his outdoor creations. “In the Balou, you now see technology and craft coming together, created in a shape that hugs you,” he says.
