METROPOLIS Celebrates the Arch30 Boston Cohort
METROPOLIS celebrated the outstanding talents of the architecture community in Boston through the Arch30 program. Our recent event marked the recognition of the fourth cohort of promising architects, highlighting their exceptional contributions and promising futures.
Representing some of the most esteemed firms in the city, these selected professionals bring innovation, creativity, and dedication to every project they undertake. From ARC to Stantec, each firm boasts remarkable individuals who are shaping the architectural landscape of Boston and beyond.
We extend our gratitude to Payette for graciously hosting this inspiring workshop, and we’re grateful for the collaboration of Grohe and Material Bank, whose support made this event possible.
The selected professionals from Boston represented prestigious firms, including Arc, Arrowstreet, CannonDesign, Elkus Manfredi Architects, Gensler, Fogarty Finger, Hacin, HDR, HMFH Architects, Interior Architects, LWA Architects, MASS Design Group, Merge Architects, NADAAA, NBBJ, OTJ Architects, Payette, Perkins Eastman, Perkins&Will, SmithGroup, SMMA, and Stantec.
Guiding Arch30 Boston Honorees Toward Their Purpose
METROPOLIS editor at large Verda Alexander and SANDOW DESIGN GROUP EVP and Design Futurist, AJ Paron, led the workshop, guiding the young professionals on how to identify and pursue work that imbues purpose, and how to navigate challenges within the workplace.
The Arch30 honorees actively engaged in a series of insightful workshops. The group started the session by engaging in an Ikigai exercise, a practice rooted in the concept of “reason for being.” This ancient ideology provides insights into the answer to the profound question, “What is my purpose in life?” The Arch30 honorees were encouraged to reflect on their passions and values, explore their interests, and consider their strengths and skills. The Ikigai exercise served as a valuable moment of self-discovery, guiding participants toward a more profound understanding of their purpose and aligning their professional journey with their intrinsic motivations.
Exploring the Complexities of the Modern Workplace
The next session explored strategies to shift away from the prevalent “grind culture” toward a more balanced yet equally productive work environment. The discussion then delved into the complexities of the modern workplace. Participants exchanged ideas on the importance of expressing the right emotions to enhance both personal happiness and professional effectiveness. The conversation focused on strategies for bringing one’s authentic self to work each day.
The workshops culminated with insightful demonstrations by program partners Grohe and Material Bank and an opportunity to network with fellow Arch30’s. Congratulations to the honorees and their firms for their remarkable achievements. Together, we look forward to witnessing the continued brilliance and impact of Boston’s emerging architectural leaders.
