The legendary Danish furniture designer created a prototype for this molded plastic chair in 1978, but it was never put into commercial production. About two years ago the company, approached Poul Kjærholm’s widow, architect Hanne Kjærholm, with the idea of putting the PK8 into production. The chair is an elegantly simple piece of design, pure Kjærholm (and Fritz Hansen)—just three pieces: a bend plastic shell, and a 2-piece aluminum base. Hansen officials quietly introduced the new chair in Milan last month and are providing what they’re calling a “sneak peak” for U.S. consumers here at ICFF. The company plans on releasing the chair in Sepember.
