Updates: Forsythe + MacAllen, Lira Luis, Jeanine Centuori

Three runners-up from the 2004 Metropolis Next Generation® Design Competition are in the news.

Canadian architects Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen have been named finalists in the MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program, a competition that invites emerging architects to propose a building project for the courtyard of MoMA satellite P.S.1, located in Long Island City, Queens. Plus the pair’s 2004 Metropolis entry, the soft wall, will make its official debut this May at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, at both the Molo Design booth and in a special installation for the tradeshow’s on-site theater.

Architect Lira Luis has found a new application for her 2004 entry, the portable transient shelter pods for migrant seafarers in the Philippines. She is working with non-profit groups to develop a modified version of the kit-parts dwelling for possible use by Tsunami victims in Southeast Asia.

A team co-lead by UrbanRock Design principal Jeanine Centuori, whose project “Finding Space in the Margins” was a runner-up in our 2004 competition, was recently awarded a citation from Architecture magazine at its annual Progressive Architecture Awards.
