Emma Jeffs is interested in surfaces, materials, and printing techniques. These interests, which have evolved into custom window screens, room partitions, and installations, started with her introduction to photograms.

Jeffs’s curtain-like designs are made of mesh fused together in a plastic encapsulation and hand-printed with vivid blues, pinks, and greens, leaving pointillist-like impressions.

“I’m interested in how an image can affect material,” says Jeffs. “People usually think of plastic as cheap. For me, this is raising the stakes of plastic. The idea that it could be bespoke—that it could contradict itself—is interesting to me.”
