Two Flooring Products for Ease of Use and Peace of Mind

Commercial carpeting made from recycled materials and poured-in-place linoleum are good options for high-traffic environments.

Ease of use can be as important to a product’s life cycle as its ingredients. A case in point, Norwegian manufacturer Heymat has adapted its popular residential doormat to serve as durable, commercial-quality carpeting. Called Zen, the new tile features a practical pattern of deep channels within the 100 percent recycled PET pile that catch dust and dirt. The backing is also ecofriendly—made from rubber with 20 percent recycled content.

What makes Mannington Commercial’s Legato Liquid Linoleum innovative is the fact that it gets poured in place and cures without any of the usual seams, which can collect bacteria and dirt. That alone makes it ideal for health-care and educational settings. The no-VOC formula also earns points for its Declare label, which indicates the manufacturer has been especially transparent about the chemistry. All 54 available colors feature a mixture that contains cork, linseed oil, and vegetable oil.
