Lineadecor’s S-Matt Reinvigorates the Matte Kitchen Trend

S-Matt is a durable and sustainably-produced product that can be applied to almost any kitchen surface.

This year, Turkey-based kitchen manufacturer Lineadecor is rolling out its S-Matt finish. The matte product, which is easily cleanable and highly resistant to scratches and smudges, can be applied to kitchen surfaces such as countertops and cabinetry, and as a finish for drawers. The matte kitchen trend is reemerging with Turkish kitchen producer Lineadecor’s latest Super Matt (S-Matt) material—a durable, water-based series that can be applied on kitchen surfaces including cabinets, countertops, and refrigerators. Manufactured in Turkey by Dekor Ahşap Ürünleri, the formaldehyde-free coating was produced with low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, making S-Matt a sustainable competitor to solvent-based polyurethane products.

To produce the coating, which is being released to the wider market this year but has picked up numerous awards since 2018, a standard matte lacquer is applied and then topped with the S-Matt varnish.

Unlike most matte countertops, the coating is easy to clean with a warm, damp cloth. The soft, antiglare material is extremely durable and resistant to scratches, stains, and finger-prints, owing to its self-healing properties—an innovative solution for a minimal, low-maintenance kitchen. To suit different residential styles, Lineadecor offers an assortment of soft and subdued color options, along with a choice of textures, such as reproducible 3D-effect surfaces.

“In the world of design, interest in matte surfaces has been increasing lately and dominating the market,” says the Lineadecor team. “We could not be uninterested in this trend with this environmentally sensitive material.”
