Shaw Contract’s New Forum Collection Aims to Help Designers Adapt to New Hospitality Trends
Spaces that can accommodate a variety of functions—from working to social gatherings and meditation sessions—are becoming the norm.
Over the past decade, hoteliers have worked to adapt to a new generation of guests, who view their work and personal lives with a marked degree of fluidity. Spaces that can accommodate a variety of functions—from social gatherings to meditation sessions—are becoming the norm. With the release of Forum, the new carpet collection from Shaw Contract, the company is betting that versatile configurations paired with sophisticated, understated patterns will help designers respond to the changing face of hospitality.
“Forum applied to hospitality settings supports an open environment that contains many points of view, modes of activity, and walks of life,” says Reesie Duncan, Shaw Contract’s vice president of global design. The collection, in other words, is far from a bland, one-size-fits-all solution. Rather, it is intended as an adjustable and scalable foundation suitable for modern hospitality’s diverse demands. Forum is manufactured from Shaw’s Eco Solution Q brand of recyclable nylon fibers, materials that are certified Cradle to Cradle Silver, and is available in a wide range of broadloom and tile configurations.
The collection features an array of graphic patterns that recall Bauhaus and Postmodern geometries tempered by neutral colorways and tactile references to jute and sisal fiber. Also available are four area rugs, whose rounded and amorphous borders open up possibilities for modularity and custom configurations. “As hospitality spaces welcome locals and visitors alike, we’ve reflected this duality in the collection’s hybrid of texture and large-scale geometry,” says Duncan. “We know that hospitality environments are not just for travelers anymore.”
