ethos® Modular with Omnicoat Technology™– Cradle to Cradle Certified
Tarkett was the first to harness the PVB film used in windshields and safety glass, creating a time-tested alternative to traditional carpet backing polymers. Tarkett created a vinyl-free carpet backing called ethos® Modular with Omnicoat Technology™, with Cradle to Cradle Silver certification. ethos® also uses a proprietary, fluorinefree soil protection technology called Eco-Ensure™, which has received the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institutes Gold level material health certification. From 2004 to 2018, ethos® diverted over 51 million pounds of PVB from the landfill.
2010
Phthalate Free
Tarkett committed to removing phthalates from all of its products and became the first company to incorporate phthalate-free technology throughout all our US manufacturing facilities. Tarkett is the only flooring manufacturer that offers both commercial and residential products that are certified asthma & allergy friendly®. We felt that everyone deserved a healthier product, no matter the flooring category or price point.

Cradle to Cradle Standards
Tarkett committed to incorporating Cradle to Cradle standards throughout our product offerings to provide radical transparency to our customers and create a continuous effort to improve. In this process we completed third party assessments and verifications on 98% of our raw material suppliers. For every product, Tarkett lists every ingredient, shows whether the ingredient is a hazard or risk, and removes any remaining potential risk by redesign or reformulation.
