The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) produces conferences that leaders in the green build industry annually flock to in order to share their insight, network, and learn about the newest innovations happening within in the industry. Now, in its sixth year, the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Chicago is enjoying a record number of attendees—preliminary counts say around 20,000—taking part in the three day programming that includes keynotes, educational sessions, LEED workshops, green building tours, and an exposition with over 850 exhibitors. With the addition of a new conference web site Greenbuild365, live video streams of speakers such as President Bill Clinton, architect Thom Mayne, environmentalist Paul Hawken, and Metropolis editor in chief Susan S. Szenasy will be me made available to a worldwide audience.
Susan Szenasy will moderate the closing plenary session, Sustainable Cities and Green Communities (November 9, 11:00 am, CST). The discussion will include mayors from four U.S. cities who will talk about their cities’ sustainability initiatives— Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley; Albuquerque Mayor Martin J. Chávez; Austin Mayor Will Wynn; and Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell. Discover online how these leaders use sustainability to deliver measurable improvements in their cities’ economies, environment, and quality of life.
