Metropolis Is Looking for Summer Interns!
Metropolis Magazine has openings for three positions: Print Editorial Intern, Digital Editorial Intern, and Video Editorial Intern.
Thanks for your interest in Metropolis Magazine! The three positions—all listed below—are part-time roles with a maximum of 20 hours/week. Candidates should be able to commit through early September. Overview
The Metropolis editorial team seeks an intern who is highly motivated and passionate about writing, architecture, and design. The Print Editorial Intern acquires professional experience and collaborates with editors in the production of Metropolis. He or she conducts research and writes stories for the magazine and website. This individual works closely with all levels of staff and departments at Metropolis and has the opportunity to attend Metropolis’s sponsored events, lectures, and tradeshows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Contributes stories to Metropolis (the magazine) and its website
● Conducts story research and fact checking
● Assists with social media, blog posts, and audio and video content
● Performs routine administrative duties including updating and organizing office files and library, coordinating materials for tradeshows, contests and events and archiving materials
Skills and Abilities
● Meticulous about accuracy, in particular fact-checking, spelling, and grammar
● Solid writing experience
● Interest in learning about architecture and design and the magazine industry
● Strong communication skills
Required Education and Experience
● Undergraduate or graduate student in English, journalism, or a related field

Overview
The Metropolis digital team seeks a Digital Editorial Intern who is highly motivated and enthusiastic about journalism, architecture, and design. This individual is a self-starter and excited to share his/her ideas. Though this role is primarily digital, the Digital Editorial Intern may have the opportunity to write for the print magazine.
During his/her tenure, this part-time position will support the digital team by:
– Pitching and writing daily news stories for www.metropolismag.com
– Supporting the editors with research for longer-lead features
– Reporting on architecture and design events
– Executing day-to-day website-related tasks as well as other administrative tasks
Skills, Abilities, and Required Education and Experience
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
– Enrolled in or recently-graduated from a design- or journalism-related program
– Strong writing and reporting abilities as demonstrated by clips/portfolio/writing samples
– Meticulous about accuracy, in particular fact-checking, spelling and grammar
– Familiar with WordPress and Photoshop
– Those with video journalism/production experience will be given special consideration

Overview
The Metropolis digital team seeks a Video Editorial Intern who is highly motivated and enthusiastic about journalism, architecture, and design. This individual is a self-starter and excited to share his/her ideas. This role focuses on video production but affords the opportunity to also write for the Metropolis website.
During his/her tenure, this part-time position will support the digital team by:
– Pitching video stories for www.metropolismag.com
– Producing mostly short-form video content
– Pitching and producing long-form video content
Skills, Abilities, and Required Education and Experience
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
– Enrolled in or recently-graduated from a journalism-related program
– Skilled in full range of video production, from shooting to editing
– Expertise in Final Cut Pro or similar editing software
– Ability to execute quick turnaround
– Strong portfolio of prior video journalism work
– Familiarity with architecture and design preferred, but not required
