Templok® Energy Saving Ceilings

Templok® Energy Saving Ceilings integrate innovative phase change material (PCM) into mineral fiber panels, reducing HVAC energy use and operational carbon while improving occupant comfort without changing how designers specify systems and contributing to LEED® certification.

The PCM melts and freezes at approximately 72°F, absorbing excess heat as temperatures rise and releasing stored heat as they fall. This passive thermal management reduces temperature swings and enables more efficient HVAC operation.

Performance is measurable. Templok ceilings save up to 15% in HVAC energy cost and usage. At Palm Springs Unified School District, classroom retrofits kept spaces 4°F cooler, reduced peak afternoon HVAC demand by 20%, and cut total cooling energy consumption by 7%, demonstrating measurable impact.

Due to the heating and cooling efficiency gains, Templok ceilings become net-carbon negative, more than offsetting their embodied carbon within just a few years of building operations. Calla® Templok® and Ultima Templok ceiling tiles are part of Armstrong Sustain® portfolio, meeting stringent industry sustainability standards.

By transforming building surfaces into passive climate assets, Templok ceilings demonstrate sustainable design is about making every surface work smarter for people and the planet.
