Designer Walter Craven, who founded Blank and Cables in 1996 at the age of 23 has launched a new firm under his own name.
The theme of his debut line (now in prototype) is convertibility. The Pull Table is a teak-veneered MDF box that sheathes a cushioned bench. The Flip Lounger’s backrest flips up, and a handy side table slides forward.
The Flip Bench’s thermoformed plastic shell-top can be pulled up and forward, revealing upholstered cushioned seats. In the tradition of the Murphy bed and other two-in-one furniture designs, Craven’s work is a quirky solution to the eternal puzzle of furnishings in small spaces.
