A Financial Office in New York Gets a Residential-Style Makeover
The renovation, by New York designer Kevin Dumais and architects Fogarty Finger, aimed to cultivate a “home away from home” for employees.
Encompassing 8,000 square feet over two stories in New York City’s Flatiron district, an office for a financial firm recently received a luxe residential treatment by interior designer Kevin Dumais and architecture firm Fogarty Finger.
With Juliet balconies offering expansive views of Fifth Avenue, the workplace translates the client’s idea of a “home office away from home.” Dumais chose vintage furniture and selected pieces from the CEO’s house to populate the space—procurement that has resulted in nearly all of the furnishings skewing residential, with the exception of those found in private offices, and employees’ desks.
Generous skylights and a coastal palette lend the environs an airy feel. “The idea was to give them a sense of home when they came in here, a tranquil positivity,” says Dumais.
