Parsons Students Have Their Way with Vitra
The winning interior in a recent competition engulfs classic furniture in books, magazines, and other detritus.

Vitra just released photos from its recent student-design competition, which challenged four interdisciplinary teams from Parsons to create domestic vignettes that show off the company’s furniture in new ways. The winning design, called Parabox, overwhelms seating by Verner Panton and the Bouroullec brothers with a raft of books, magazines, mementos, and other detritus. (Hmm, reminds me of a certain Metropolis colleague’s cubicle.) More photos of the results–which are on display at Vitra’s New York showroom until June 5–after the jump.

Of the other three student vignettes, “Beyond Nostalgia” (above) includes the work of Hella Jongerius.

“A Moment with Vitra” puts some of the company’s most iconic pieces under hanging Artemide lamps.

And “Off the Wall” incorporates several Frank Gehry pieces in a dining environment constructed almost entirely of cardboard.
